Wade Monroe is a wildlife photographer native to Oklahoma. He developed his passion for wildlife photography and preservation while exploring the rich ecosystems of the Midwest and Southeast.

Wade graduated from the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma in 2017 with a B.A. in History with an anthropological focus and is a current Master’s candidate in Human Paleobiology at George Washington University. Being a student of history and hailing from a state with a long history of exploitation of the natural world, he has witnessed firsthand the dramatic effects that preservation efforts (and lack thereof) can have.

It is his goal, through photography and accessible education regarding preservation, to foster a sense of belonging to the natural world for all people, as well as a duty to protect it.

Currently Wade is a contracted photographer with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources and is focused on promoting the Virginia Bird & Wildlife Trail system through photojournalism. Check out the ecosystems of the trail and look for his work in 2022 on the Department’s website at https://dwr.virginia.gov/vbwt/
